Engineered Boards Using Our Sepia Finish

Finished in a warm oak tone with a distinctive grain of contrasting white lime to give a soft French Provincial feel, this floor is ideal for the modern classicist.

The picture below is the finished product installed in a French Provincial inspired apartment in Point Piper, Sydney. The client's taste; clean and yet earthy, was what lead them to choose this sepia finish which ties the room nicely with the overhead timber beams, white walls, rustic chesterfield Ottoman and ornate ceiling plaster.

Eterno, Parquet Or Vecchio - The Choice Is Yours

In the world of engineered timber floorboards a lot of terms get bandied around but there are no 'exact' description terms which are industry standard. To make things easier for our customers, we have grouped our boards into three categories:

1. Eterno

Here is a little information about each:

Eterno:

Timeless luxury that never goes out of style.

Create the ultimate look and feel of pure indulgence with the Classic board. Designed with elegance and comfort in mind, the Classic board will suit every home with a broad colour choice ranging from rich warm tones through to cooler shades. Available in Piccolo and Grande.

Parquet:

Be bold and make a statement with Parquetry.

A modern play on a traditional design, this unique oversized herringbone parquetry will bring any room to life. Measuring 888mm x 148mm the generous boards will give a room the appearance of more space while adding dimension and elegance. Available in Grande.

Vecchio:

Engineered to create that ‘lived-in’ look, the pre-distressed hand-scraped boards are perfect for achieving a rustic yet urban look. Textured for a more natural appearance, the hand-scraped boards are low maintenance and great for work spaces and homes. Available in Piccolo and Grande.

Completed Work

We loved doing this job in Sydney, Australia.

Mostly because we got to show off the timber when we panelled the wall and this really expresses the seamless flow of timber and it's use.

The colour used was Bistre in Eterno finish which has beautiful limed blonde tones combined with subtle greys.

This look we find appealing because it lends itself to a certain Danish/Swedish beach house look. The kind of beach house you may find at Skagen or Blockhus in Denmark.

Construction Of Our Engineered Floorboards

Of late you will have heard us describe our floor boards in two terms 'Grande' And 'Piccolo'. We chose terms that Australians understand in terms of Italian coffee so that you can easily conceive the differences. The 'Grande', much like a full size latte cup, is heavier and has more height to the board than the 'Piccolo', just like a 'piccolo latte' is lighter and has less height. A good application example of why you might use one over the other is as follows:

Grande: You have a large spacious house with plenty of room and you wish to create a seamless but durable and heavy underfoot feeling akin to a solid architectural hardwood floor.

Piccolo: You are on the fifth floor of an apartment block with constrictions by the body corporate on what you can lay and on what substrate. You have very particular height restrictions for the floor and there is very little room to move if, when pulling up your existing floor or carpet, something isn't right in the substrate.

Come In, Come In! Welcome To The New Showroom

You could be fooled by the back wall that you were in a forest, and that's exactly how we want you to feel. Tongue N Groove's  new showroom, on the second floor of Precision Flooring, is an expression of our love for all things in engineered flooring. On display we have our vast range of colour palettes which we have developed for our clients as well as the various widths and types of boards that we offer.

The demand for engineered flooring solutions has increased substantially over the last 6 years. What was once a less desirable alternative to a traditional timber floor has now matured into it's own craft with the benefits now much clearer to customers; various advances in fabrication technology, coupled with installation benefits such as no top-nailing, meaning that this seamless floor with versatile finish is now as much sought after as traditional flooring.

Our showroom is dedicated to empowering you with the knowledge you need to make the right decision for your engineered flooring solution. Whether it be the finish you desire, whether you seek a modern or rustic solution, whether you need a slim or wide board approach, what surface you are laying your floor on, whatever the question, whatever the need, we are here to help you.

So come on in! t +612 9699 1131

Chiswick Restaurant, A Matt Moran Creation, Woollahra, Sydney

Sydney is the home of many a fine dining restaurant and for years one of it's greatest restaurant locations, Pruniers, was in disrepair and Sydneysiders were desperately awaiting a new lease of life.

That inspiration and energy came from none other than Matt Moran, one of Sydney's most famed chefs. The restaurant, Chiswick, is a rustic styled English Gastro Pub-styled food meets Hampton's Chic Ralph Lauren in this re-make of an old classic, Pruniers.

We were proud to be chosen to supply and install their floor. For Chiswick, this came in the form of our rustic engineered flooring solution named Penza, a natural looking aged-oak grain which compliments the warmth of the surrounds and offering a mid-brown tonal range which compliments the fresh whites of the opposing room.

If you have not already been to Chiswick, it's time to book. And don't forget to try the fried chicken and the chef's special, the home cooked lamb.

Notice the rustic finish of the floor. This is a unique finish offered by TongueNGroove  Flooring whereby the boards are manufactured to look worn and rustic by hand finishing the boards on the factory floor, whereby all knots are removed and the boards are aged by a technician.

European Oak Engineered Board In Bistre Finish

European Oak is the most versatile floorboard to stain and treat. Below is an example of our Bistre finish which lends itself nicely to strong stark environments but equally as well to warm homely environments too. http://www.tonguengrooveflooring.com.au

Bistre very much suits stark interiors but can also be used in warmer environments too.

Welcome To The Blog

Every Friday we have a meeting to discuss our 'work in progress'. This involves sitting down with our team and working out what jobs we have on for the week, what jobs we are moving to next and managing the process from start to finish to ensure that your timber floor looks as good as the pictures we sold it to you on.

It therefore came upon us that with the increasing workload of timber flooring that we were doing, it was not possible to upload all the content to our website http://www.tonguengrooveflooring.com.au/ so we thought that there would be no better way to show you our 'Work In Progress' than by a blog where we can show you what we're up to as we develop our products and finishes.
